Worka

A revolutionary new marketplace for workspace

Problem space

  • $3.1T office space market lacked solutions that solved for actual workspace needs (e.g., “host a workshop for 6 in London”) rather than just offering commodity listings (desks, rooms).
  • Needed to design and launch a differentiated, scalable marketplace for individuals, teams, and enterprises within an aggressive 18-month timeline.

 

My Role

  • Led design for Worka (“Airbnb for work”), delivering 4 interconnected experiences across web and app:
    • Admin Portal – business access control
    • Partner Portal – workspace listings/configuration
    • Team – enterprise rollout and management
    • Marketplace – booking and management for users
  • Directed and aligned 26 designers over 18 months, handling on/off-boarding, oversight, and motivation.
  • Ensured cross-platform design consistency while maintaining the USP of needs-based search and booking.

 

Outcome

  • Successfully delivered all 4 product experiences on time within 18 months.
  • Established marketplace differentiation by focusing on needs-driven workflows, not commodities.
  • Product entered closed beta in 2024, with wider launch scheduled for 2025.

Delivery Tracker

A simpler way to track and manage your parcels, regardless who’s delivering them.

Problem space

  • With 400+ carriers in the UK, each offering inconsistent tracking experiences, customers faced confusion and retailers suffered reputational damage.
  • Poor delivery transparency drove costly WISMO (“Where is my order?”) contacts, averaging £5 per inquiry.

 

My Role

  • Led design of Delivery Tracker, giving retailers ownership of the end-to-end post-purchase experience across responsive web and app.
  • Designed 2 key experiences:
    • Admin Portal – business setup and customisation of tracking experiences.
    • Delivery Tracker – customer-facing delivery tracking and management.
  • Tackled major design challenges:
    • Normalised hundreds of carrier event types into 4 clear delivery statuses.
    • Balanced dynamic, priority-driven UI tiles with familiar, persistent elements to avoid information overload.
    • Defined scalable branding/customisation framework with 8 major retailers, avoiding a 1-year delay from over-complex skinning.
  • Assembled a Design team of 4, within 3 weeks, to allow delivery of the experience.

 

Outcome

  • Delivered a consistent, branded delivery experience that reduced WISMO contacts by ~40%.
  • Enabled retailers to monetise tracking pages through personalised ads, driving repeat purchases.
  • Product went live and is now in use by major retailers including Monsoon, Sportshoes.com, and Royal Mint.
